Several new laws that impact Virginia saltwater anglers will go into effect on Monday, July 1.
One bill establishes a new, optional lifetime saltwater recreational fishing license for anglers over the age of 65, who will continue to remain exempt from having to buy a saltwater fishing license but now will have the option of purchasing a lifetime license for $5 if they wish to have a paper license in hand.
Another bill gives the Commission the authority to revoke violators’ saltwater fishing privileges, as well as their saltwater licenses, for up to two years.
