The U.S. Coast Guard recently issued an advisory to mariners regarding construction on the James River Fishing Pier. Located parallel to the James River Bridge, the pier will be extended by more than 140o feet.
Beginning 21 September 2015, mariners can expect to encounter barge and crane operations, in conjunction with general marine construction. Barges and vessels will be moored on site with personnel working over the side on small floats at times along with crew boats.
Mariners are requested to pass the work site with no wake or bare steerageway. Work crews will be monitoring VHF Channels 13 & 16.
Construction work on the new pier extension is expected to run through 28 August, 2016.
