According to Fisheries of the United States, 2015, the 2015 U.S. marine recreational finfish catch, including fish kept and fish released (discarded) on the Atlantic, Gulf, and Pacific coasts (including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico), was an estimated 351 million fish taken on an estimated 61 million fishing trips.
The harvest was estimated at 151 million fish weighing 188 million pounds (includes fish kept or released dead).
Estimated U.S. per capita consumption of fish and shellfish was 15.5 pounds in 2015, an increase from the 14.6 pounds consumed in 2014.

The report provides data on U.S. recreational catch and commercial fisheries landings and value as well as other aspects of U.S. commercial fishing.
