NOAA Fisheries recently announced that for the summer flounder recreational fishery, the agency will continue “conservation equivalency.”
In effect, NOAA waives the federal recreational bag limit, minimum fish size, and fishing season, and vessel owners are subject to regulations in the state where they land.
Anglers can find information on Virginia summer flounder regulations by visiting the VMRC page at http://www.mrc.state.va.us/ .
Note that Federal black sea bass and scup recreational measures for 2019 are unchanged from 2018.
The final rule is published in the Federal Register, and the permit holder bulletin available on the NOAA Fisheries Greater Atlantic Region website.
